Frequently asked questions

What is a normal menstrual cycle length?

A normal cycle ranges from 21 to 35 days, with 28 days being the average. Your personal "normal" is whatever is consistent for you. Occasional variation of 2–3 days is common. Consistently irregular cycles (varying by more than 7 days) may warrant a gynaecological evaluation.

How is the fertile window calculated?

Ovulation occurs approximately 14 days before the next period. The fertile window includes the 5 days before ovulation (when sperm can survive) plus ovulation day itself. For a 28-day cycle, this is roughly days 10–15.

Why do predictions become less accurate for future cycles?

This tool assumes a consistent cycle length. In reality, cycles can vary due to stress, illness, diet, travel, and hormonal changes. The first predicted period is most accurate; cycles 2 and 3 onwards have greater uncertainty.

What are the cycle phases?

The menstrual phase (days 1–5): bleeding. Follicular phase (days 1–13): estrogen rises, follicles develop. Ovulation (day 14): egg release. Luteal phase (days 15–28): progesterone rises; drops if no pregnancy, triggering the next period.

Can I use this to track symptoms?

This tool shows predicted dates only. For full symptom tracking (mood, cramps, discharge, basal body temperature), consider a dedicated cycle tracking app. Recording symptoms alongside this calendar gives you a more complete picture of your cycle patterns.
