Frequently asked questions

Is this salary slip legally valid?

This generator creates a standard-format payslip suitable for most purposes including bank loan applications, visa applications and rental verification. For tax or legal proceedings, salary slips must be officially issued by the employer on letterhead.

How is PF calculated on this payslip?

Employee PF contribution is calculated at 12% of basic salary, which is the standard rate under the Employees' Provident Fund Act, 1952. The employer also contributes 12% (8.33% to EPS + 3.67% to EPF), but that is not deducted from the employee's salary.

What is Professional Tax and who pays it?

Professional Tax (PT) is a state-level tax levied on salaried individuals. It is deducted from the employee's salary. The rate varies by state: Maharashtra and Karnataka charge ₹200/month (₹300 in February for some brackets). Not all states levy PT.

Can I use this for bank loan applications?

Banks typically accept salary slips as income proof. However, they may require the last 3 months' slips on official company letterhead with the employer's seal and HR/Manager signature. This tool generates the format — your HR department must officially issue and sign them.

What is the difference between CTC and take-home salary?

CTC (Cost To Company) includes the employer's PF contribution, gratuity provision, health insurance premium and other benefits. Take-home is CTC minus employee deductions (PF, PT, TDS) minus taxes. This payslip shows gross earnings (without employer benefits) and net pay (after employee deductions).
